Flood Control Budget Sa Marcos Administration, Moabot Sa 779 Bilyon Pesos
“..Okay, so over the years, the government has already spent at least 1.5 trillion Pesos from 2015 to 2026 for flood control projects. So those were covered by three administrations, of course. But 2015 to 2016, those were the last two years of the Aquino administration.
And then the full term of the Duterte administration. And then this is the Marcos administration. So if we look at the data, the last two years of the Pinoy administration, the allocation for flood control projects reached P101 billion Pesos.
If we look at the Duterte administration, it reached P613 billion Pesos. And in fact, that’s when the allocations for flood control really started to increase, particularly in 2018. So from around P70 plus billion Pesos, it became P128 billion Pesos.
And that’s significant because our 2018 budget, that was the year before the 2019 elections. Fast forward to the Marcos administration. So the proposal for 2027 is not yet included.
The allocation for flood control projects reached P779 billion Pesos. And just like the previous administration, we also saw that the allocations for flood control peaked in 2024. Again, that was a year before the 2025 elections.
The flood control allocation reached almost P350 billion Pesos..”
