“..Northern Mindanao’s inflation rate stood at 1.4% in January 2026. In January 2025, the region’s inflation rate was recorded at 2.9%, while in December 2025, it was recorded at 0.9%. The main drivers behind the acceleration of inflation in January 2026 were 1. The acceleration of inflation of housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels, with an inflation rate of 4.8% in January 2026, from 2.3% in December 2025. And 2. This is a slower decrease of the average price of food for non-alcoholic beverages, with an inflation of negative 0.8% in January 2026, from negative 1.3% in December 2025.
The acceleration in the inflation of housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels in January 2026 can be attributed to, firstly, the actual rentals, with 7.8% inflation, from 4.3% in December 2025. Second, electricity, with negative 0.1% inflation, from negative 1.4% in December 2025. And third, liquefied hydrocarbons, with negative 2.5% inflation, from negative 4.9% in December 2025..”
