“..We did not apply for it. The organizer, Miss U Philippines, just approached us and informed us of their desire to have this preliminary activities and in getting a local partner LGU. And with that, we feel honored, considering also the big impact that it will have to the province of Misamis Occidental and to the whole Northern Mindanao. So, sila ang nag-set sa ilang kaugalingong criteria in getting a local partner local government unit, and we are fortunate for this year, 2026, Northern Mindanao, the province of Misamis Occidental was chosen to be the host. Well, for many reasons: first, that’s a rare opportunity. Lots, probably, of the local governments would be interested to host, and for this year, it is offered to your local government unit. And the impact there is, una, for our tourism development program, especially at this time that Misamis Occidental really banked and is about to launch also our major tourism programs, one of which is our Maldives-inspired beach resort, the recreation park, which we call the Amorap. That will be the main venue of the selection. So, aside from the impact in tourism, economically, it can also trigger the growth of the economy..”
